I enjoy reading historicals from time to time. Interesting and quite shocking to read what it was like living as a gay man in the 19th century.
David is convinced he is not entitled in starting a family by marrying a woman. He couldn’t do that to her while his very own desire lies with men.
Balfour however believes it is done by thousands so why would he reject a bit of happiness while fulfilling his needs elsewhere with men on occasion.
“You deny the very essence of who you are, and you do it every single fucking day. And then you have the gall to turn around and tell me that if I have the temerity to want the things that other men take for granted, I’m not being TRUE to myself?”
Great start of the series and I’m curious if Balfour will be able to convince David and stop him from feeling guilty and find some happiness.
